Abstract :

This study explored the multifaceted roles of Islamic clerics in mediation, promoting peaceful coexistence, conflict prevention, counseling, and community development, and to identify the obstacles that hinder their effectiveness. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, the study involved interviews and focus group discussions with 15 clerics and community members. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data. Findings indicate that clerics are deeply involved in conflict resolution and community initiatives, significantly contributing to social harmony and development. However, they face challenges such as resource limitations, political interference, and cultural barriers. The study suggests that enhancing collaboration with local authorities and other stakeholders can amplify the positive impact of clerics’ efforts. Policy recommendations include increased support for clerics' initiatives and the establishment of frameworks to facilitate better resource allocation and cooperation.
